Why I chose John Dies at the End

Well, I've already done two posts on John Dies at the End but I still haven't read much of it. So, I'll share why I chose it. At first, my friend Brendan told me how funny the movie was, and that he just watched it on Netflix. I was like "hey maybe I should watch it on Netflix." I didn't end up watching it on Netflix. I don't really watch much TV. But then at lunch one day it came up again, Brendan was showing us quotes from the book that made us cry due to excessive amounts of laughter. My other friend Jack, who had also apparently read the book, told me it was probably the funniest book he's ever read, but it also had a really good plot. Considering that I did not have a book to read for English yet,I got my sister to drive me to Barnes and Noble to buy the book. My sister is a new driver and went the wrong way like 6 times and it took like 40 minutes to get there. But after starting the book, I have felt that the journey to get the book was well worth it, and I agree with my friends about how funny the book is. It was definitely a good buy.

John Dies at the End Again!

I'm going to make symbols for the two main characters in John Dies at the End!

David: The symbol I am giving David Wong, the narrative of John Dies at the End, is my dad's old washing machine. David, like my father's old washing machine, is not the most impressive, and doesn't exceed in any one area. In school, he got below average grades and now is working a low-paying job at a local video store. He is also similar to my dad's washing machine because he describes himself as kinda ugly and wouldn't be most people's first choice. My dad's washing machine is really plain looking and so is David. Another similarity is that both sometimes have problems functioning. Sometimes I get really confused when using my dad's washing machine, and it causes problems because I have to go get my dad to help me. David has had behavior problems in the past, and is kinda crazy, and the book says he got sent to special classes for misbehaving students, and then was eventually expelled. Lastly, David and the washing machine are similar to each other because even though they both look like pieces of junk, they are both very reliable. The washing machine has never broken down, and I can always count on it to make my H&M clothes nice and fresh. David is reliable in that even though he may have messed up in high school, he always goes to his job on time and rarely misses days, and is always looking after his best friend John, who has even more issues than David does!
This washing machine is David!

John: The symbol I am giving John is sushi. John, like sushi, is very adventurous. A lot of people are afraid to try sushi, just like how a lot of people are too scared to do what John does. This trait is in many ways a positive trait, but also sometimes lands John in dangerous situations, for example, drugs. Which brings me to my next reason, that both sushi and John can be toxic. Sometimes when sushi isn't fresh it can make you very sick. The book makes John sounds like he uses occasional drugs, not enough to be an addict but certainly enough to be dangerous, which poisons John just like the unlucky fellow who buys his sushi from gas stations. Lastly, John is similar to sushi because the people that know John love him, and he is a very fun and social guy, just like how most people who have tried sushi love it, and the many sushi restaurants that exist bring these sushi-lovers together for sushi social events. I tried sushi, and loved it, and now I am a regular sushi eater. John is very charismatic and a really fun guy, and I think if I were to meet him in person I would recognize that he has issues, but also really like being around him and enjoy his fun personality.

This potentially dangerous sushi is John!

John Dies at the End.

In the story John Dies at the End, there is this guy named David Wong except thats not actually his name. It's just a fake name. He has this friend name John, and they are like ghost hunter people. They can see ghosts because they are just better than us. There is this girl who is pale with brown hair and she goes to them because she says her dead boyfriend has been abusing her. This is weird because he is dead so he shouldn't be able to abuse her. So David and John go check that bad boy out. But then in her house they realize that she is a ghost, and she explodes into snakes and then there's this big meat monster and it attacks them, but then they call their friend and he kills it over the phone. That's pretty much what David and John do for a living. They are really cool people but they are also kinda mostly stupid. I really like this book because it is funny. Most of the humor is because they are pretty stupid. Even with the stupidity and humor, I think the book has a great plot, and there are always action scenes that keep your interest. The background story of the book is really interesting, and makes me want to learn more about it, which adds to the total effect of how delicious this book is. I'm only like forty pages into the book, but so far I like the book a lot!
